Travelling to/ from/ around Wellington

Wellington Airport provides a highly enjoyable experience for travellers and its close proximity to the CBD saves travellers time and money.

At the 2011 World Travel Awards Wellington Airport was voted best in Australasia. Its new terminal The Rock has won 13 awards including transport category at the prestigious World Architecture Festival, and the Supreme Registered Master Builders Award.

It is serviced by a number of airlines (see airlines here). We recommend the use of a fare comparison website such as webjet or expedia to help you find the best value fare.

Airport facilities include free wi-fi, restaurants, shops including duty free and luggage storage. There are also rental car kiosks if required (a car is not needed/ recommended for the conference). For those wanting to do some sight seeing after the conference, we recommend you talk to the rental car agencies either on arrival or in advance to see if they have any "free" relocations on offer (usually this is going to Auckland - and there is a set time limit. Insurance fee and fuel costs usually apply). At the time of writing, petrol prices are around $2.06nz per litre.

The Corporate Box is Wellington Airport's premium Airport Lounge and includes made to order barista coffee, light meals, alcoholic beverages (beer/ wine), newspapers, magazines, SKY Television, bathroom/ shower facilities and office facilities (computers/ workstations and printer). Book in advance online to get the best rate (currently $19nz) or turn up on the day and pay $25nz (can stay up to 3hrs).

The Airport Flyer bus service runs every 15mins from the Airport. It offers cost effective, comfortable travel and is especially recommended for the solo passenger travelling lightly. For groups of 2-3 or those with more luggage, the Airport Shuttle or Taxis are recommended.
